At Small Giraffes, we see above the fray.

Small Giraffes is a full-service creative agency that produces engaging narrative-driven video content. We put the story first. From creative development to the writing, production, post-production, and release stages, Small Giraffes will turn your idea into a visual reality.

We produce a wide range of work, including advertisements, narrative, corporate, music videos, documentaries, and more. We take pride in our close client relationships — there's no project too big or small for Small Giraffes.

Meet the Giraffes

Sam Graff

Sam is a Brooklyn-based Director, Producer, and Editor. Before founding Small Giraffes, Sam worked staff on HBO’s The Leftovers, NBC’s The Blacklist, as well as several commercials and reality TV shows. Since then, Sam has created content for Grammy Award-winning and Billboard-charting bands including They Might Be Giants, Aaron Frazer, Lawrence, Durand Jones and the Indications, and more.

In his spare time, Sam enjoys rock climbing, watching sci-fi, tinkering with old electronics, and taking baths—the last two certainly not at the same time.

Max Nepstad

Max is a creative director and marketer, leading creative teams to connect the dots between vision, strategy, and execution. Over his 15 years career, he has worked for clients including Jose Cuervo, Clif Bar, Mountain DEW, Bushmills, and Google.

After over 10 years in NYC, Max moved to Colorado, where he now spends his free time skiing and rocking climbing with his wife and dog. Sadly, they don't make skis for dogs (yet).

Anjie Zheng

Anjie is a writer and editor that works with businesses including Apple and Grammarly to bring their stories to life. Previously, Anjie managed the digital publication at WeWork and, prior to that, was a reporter for The Wall Street Journal. Her writing has been featured in Fast Company, Literary Hub, Quartz, and content studios including at The New York Times and BBC.

In her spare time, Anjie knits, sews, and co-organizes a book club that reads Asian-American and immigrant writers. She also enjoys watching improv and inscrutable foreign films with her cat, Daisy.

Paulius Kontijevas

Paulius is a Lithuanian-born Producer, Director, and Cinematographer who’s worked on a wide variety of digital video productions. He’s shot web and broadcast commercials, reality TV, feature films, music videos, and feature documentaries for clients including Bacardi, Nike, American Family Insurance, Microsoft, Google, and more. With over 15 years of experience, Paulius has worked closely with many celebrities including Ice Spice, Barbara Corcoran, Jeremy Piven, Kevin Durant, Derek Jeter, and the list goes on.

Paulius loves negative fill and is too nice for his own good.

Lucy Gamades

Lucy is a Texas-born writer, director and producer with a style that has been described as "Altman-esque" and "cheerfully macabre." She has worked full-time for A+E Networks and Condé Nast, overseeing post on projects for clients like Revlon, Ulta, Pfizer, A&E, the History Channel, Starbucks, Toyota, and more.

If she had a nickel for every time a close family member died on the day of a significant life event, she’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but weird that it’s happened twice.

Production Team

Our wider team of professionals includes producers, directors, camera operators, art directors, writers, editors, and more. We’ve worked for brands including Condé Nast, Google, Nike, Ralph Lauren, and Apple, and on films shown in festivals including Tribeca Film Festival, South by Southwest, DOC NYC, and more.
