Shot on 16mm film and MiniDV, “Normal People” by COULOU tells the story of an ill-fated romance in reverse.

The 16mm film evokes the “rose-colored” nostalgia of being in love, while the Lo-fi MiniDV reflects the harsh reality and emotional flatness of a breakup.

In the final scene, the mediums combine as the lovers meet for the first time, intercutting between film and MiniDV to echo the innocence and desire of new beginnings.
